  • The application form fee (Rs. 1000/-) is non-refundable.
  • Please remember to click 'SAVE AND CONTINUE' or 'SAVE AS DRAFT' button before you leave the application form so that all the changes will be saved in the form.
  • Keep the following documents ready before filling up the application form:
    • Latest passport-size photograph and scanned copy of your signature (preferably less than 2 MB in .png, .jpeg, or .jpg format).
    • Scanned copy of UG Marksheets (all available semesters, merged into a single PDF file).
      Please note that it is the responsibility of the candidate to provide accurate information with regard to academic credentials.
  • Download the PDF of the completed application form and the application fee payment receipt after paying the same for future references.
Eligibility Criteria
General Guidelines
  • Age of the candidate should be 20 years or less (22 years or less for SC,ST or OBC) as on 1st July 2025.
  • No candidate shall be eligible for admission after a lapse of more than three years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of admission will not be taken into account while calculating 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
  • A candidate can complete the online application procedure before the publication of +2 level Board results.
  • Candidate will be selected provisionally for admission. Provisional Admission will be given on the basis of the marks of Xavier Law Admission Test (XLAT) 2025. However, for the confirmation of final admission the student must pass Plus Two examination conducted by a recognised Board/Council in India and obtain minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate and must pass, as per the passing norm of the respective Board/Council in each of the 4 subjects included in the aggregate calculation (including the compulsory subjects), failing which the selection/provisional admission of the student will be cancelled.
  • The final Plus Two result must be submitted to the University at the time of admission (if board result is published) or before the commencement of the classes, till then the admission will remain provisional. If a candidate is selected and/or provisionally admitted (on the basis of the marks of Xavier Law Admission Test [XLAT] 2025) but fails to fulfil the admission criteria (as mentioned here in), the candidate will not be eligible for admission, or the provisional admission (if admitted provisionally) will be cancelled. The paid fees will be refunded as per rules of the University.
  • A student must have studied and passed in English in the +2 level (excluding the foreign students for whom there is a separate set of rules).
  • Aggregate is calculated with four subjects at +2 level including the compulsory subjects as indicated in the eligibility criteria for application and the subjects having the maximum marks from the rest of the subjects (candidates must not include a subject which is among "subjects must not be included" list mentioned here in).

  • Marks in all subjects indicated in the +2 level mark sheet must be entered in the application form.
  • Students passing the GCE examination of the UK are eligible for admission only if they have completed "O" Level Examination (Minimum five passes) and completed 'A' Level (with minimum three passes) and English at "AS" Level. Such candidates must have completed and passed the "A" level examination at the time of application. Candidates with projected mark sheets are not eligible. However, they must fulfil all other requirements.
  • Students from foreign countries need to produce their English Proficiency certificate (TOEFL, IELTS) if the instruction of study in the qualifying examination is not in English medium at the time of admission.

    RESERVATION FOR EWS (Economically Weaker Sections): Maximum 10% of the total seats for each course are reserved for EWS category. This provision is made as per the government guidelines. The candidate/s who opt for this category will be required to upload the EWS certificate issued by the competent authority. Without the certificate the application will be cancelled. Candidates are requested to check the detailed government notification before opting to apply for this category.

    The University reserves the right to reject the candidature and/or cancel the application/ admission at any stage if an applicant fails to fulfil the above conditions.

Eligibility Criteria for Final Admission: Compulsory Subject(s) in +2 level: English
Aggregate calculation:

English + any three subjects

(other than the subjects which are to be excluded)

Marks required to be eligible for Admission: Minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate and must pass in each of the four subjects included in the aggregate calculation (as per the passing norm of the Board/Council)

Admission Test Details
Mode of Test and System Requirement
Internet Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring will be held for all courses.
Candidate will be given two options:
  1. Internet Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring from any convenient place of candidate's choosing.
  2. Internet Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata Campus.
The candidate to select any one of the above-mentioned options. However, the option once exercised cannot be changed or modified after the submission of the application form.

OPTION 1:
Internet Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring from any convenient place of candidate's choosing:
  • Minimum System Requirements for Internet Based Admission Test
Desktop/Laptop: [Mobile or Tablet will not be suitable]
  • Internet Browser: Google Chrome version 80 & above, with cookies & popups enabled
  • Video/Audio: Webcam min. 1.3 MP and Microphone Facility.
  • Operating system: Windows 10 and above
  • RAM & Processor: 4 GB+ RAM, i3 5th Generation 2.2 GHz or equivalent/higher
  • Pop-up blocker: Disabled
  • Uninterrupted power supply (UPS/Inverter, etc.)
Internet Connection:
  • Dedicated Internet and Internet Bandwidth of min. 2 MBPS (4G/ Wi-Fi) or above + upload speed.
  • Candidate can appear from any convenient location. However, the University will not be liable for any technical glitch and internet connectivity issue.
  • This IBT would be remote proctored, i.e., the candidate will be remotely invigilated through live video and audio feed, and the Computer screen of the candidate would also be monitored.
  • The Mic and Web Camera must remain active throughout the Test Session, and it may be recorded to maintain the transparency.
  • Other additional details will be provided in the Admit Card.
OPTION 2:
Internet Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata Campus:
  • It will be full IBT mode as mentioned in Option 1. The candidates who require technical support in terms of minimum system requirements will be facilitated to appear for the XLAT from the University Campus. There will be no technical or procedural difference between Option 1 and Option 2.
  • Candidate will be required to come to the University Campus physically to appear for the Test.
  • It will be on "First Come First Served" basis and will be provided to the first 120 students who choose this option.
  • Other additional details will be provided in the Admit Card.
