Maharashtra to Implement CBSE Curriculum in All State Schools by 2028 Under NEP 2020

The Maharashtra government has announced that all state schools will adopt the CBSE curriculum by 2028 as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The transition will begin in 2025 with Class 1 and will be implemented gradually across all grades. Education Minister Dada Bhuse made this announcement in both houses of the state assembly.

Implementation Plan:
  • 2025: Class 1
  • 2026: Classes 2, 3, 4, and 6
  • 2027: Classes 5, 7, 9, and 11
  • 2028: Classes 8, 10, and 12

Balbharti has been entrusted with making the necessary curriculum changes, with work already underway on Class 1 textbooks. The new approach will move beyond final exams, focusing on continuous and comprehensive evaluation.

Expected Benefits for Students:
  • A more standardized and uniform learning process.
  • Emphasis on skill-based education and flexibility in subject choices.
  • Better preparation for competitive exams and career opportunities.
  • Integration of practical learning and technology in education.

The government believes this transition will align state schools with national education standards, ensuring students are well-prepared for academic and professional success.
