The Maharashtra government has announced that all state schools will adopt the CBSE curriculum by 2028 as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The transition will begin in 2025 with Class 1 and will be implemented gradually across all grades. Education Minister Dada Bhuse made this announcement in both houses of the state assembly.
Balbharti has been entrusted with making the necessary curriculum changes, with work already underway on Class 1 textbooks. The new approach will move beyond final exams, focusing on continuous and comprehensive evaluation.
The government believes this transition will align state schools with national education standards, ensuring students are well-prepared for academic and professional success.
