The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) is making strides towards global expansion by setting up its first international campus in Dubai. The prestigious institution aims to kick off its inaugural academic session at the new campus in September 2025, marking IIMA's debut on the global education map.
The official announcement came during the 60th convocation ceremony held at the renowned Louis Kahn Plaza. Speaking on the occasion, IIMA Director Professor Bharat Bhasker underscored the institute's ambition to extend its educational footprint beyond Indian borders. The establishment of the Dubai campus is seen as a key step in IIMA’s mission to become a global hub for management education.
Adding to the celebrations, the convocation also featured the launch of the Madan Mohanka Centre of Excellence in Case Method of Learning. The centre, supported by IIMA alumnus and industrialist Madan Mohanka from the PGP 1967 batch, aims to enhance the institute’s case-based teaching approach, fostering practical and innovative learning methodologies.
The grand convocation event was attended by Dr. S Somanath, former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who served as the guest of honour. Over 1,200 students were awarded degrees in various management programmes, including 22 graduates from the Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD), 405 from the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA-PGP), 45 from the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agri-business Management (MBA-FABM), and 158 from the one-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA-PGPX).
The ceremony also recognized exceptional academic performance, presenting gold medals to five distinguished students: Abhi Bansal, Ishaan Jain, and Aanchal Chadha from MBA-PGP, Yogesh Kumar R from MBA-FABM, and Aashruth Rangarajan from MBA-PGPX.
Further broadening its academic offerings, IIMA has partnered with FPSB India, a subsidiary of the Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd., to introduce an executive programme dedicated to financial planning and investment advisory. Targeted at mid-to-senior-level finance professionals, the one-year programme covers critical areas such as investment strategy, tax management, estate planning, and risk mitigation. Enrollment began in March and will close in August, with classes starting in September 2025.
By embarking on this international journey and launching innovative educational programmes, IIMA continues to solidify its status as a pioneer in management education.
