Admission Brochure For the Session 2016-2017
The College offers 3-years Honours and General Under Graduate (Bachelor) Courses in Science and Humanities (Arts) under the affiliation of the University of Calcutta. Hereafter, the above two streams will be abbreviated as B.A (Bachelor of Arts) and B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) respectively.
The academic session 2016-2017 shall begin from 1st July, 2016 and end on 30th June, 2017.
Application for admission in B.A/B.Sc. courses in the session 2016-2017 shall be online only (www.vcfwadmission.in/stage1/admlogin.aspx) commencing from the date of publication of examination results of W.B.C.H.S.E. and shall continue for the stipulated days following the guidelines of the University of Calcutta. Note: No printed application form will be issued from the college.Applications will be considered only upon payment of the requisite Application Fees (Rs. 200) within10th June, 2016. Payments can be made either online using Net Banking facility, Credit or Debit Card of any bank or in cash (off-line) with the printed Pay-in-Slip (Bank Challans) generated during online submission of the application with cash payment option.
Cash payments with the printed Pay-in-Slip may be received by any core Branch of BANK OF BARODA (BOB) till 10th June, 2016.The requisite application fee is exclusive of Bank charges for their service (either on-line or off-line)
For Sucessfully submission of Application form (for cash payment mode) enter the Bank Reference Number/Transaction ID/ Journal Number that can be obtained from Bank to the system by loging in ( www.vcfwadmission.in/stage1/admlogin.aspx ) second time.
A candidate may be admitted to the first year of Three-Year B.A./B.Sc. (Honours/General) courses of studies on passing 10 + 2 Examination in General or Vocational Stream conducted by West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (W.B.C.H.S.E.), I.S.C, C.B.S.E, Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya or National Open School recognized by the Distant Learning Council and different boards of other states in India (as approved by the University of Calcutta: for detail list see http://wbchse.nic.in/html/equivalent_athourities.html). following the eligibility criteria mentioned in Section A. College shall not be liable for admission/ranking in the Merit List in case your previous 10+2 board is not approved by the University of Calcutta.

In case of Board/Council other than W.B.C.H.S.E., a candidate shall have to pass in five recognised subjects of full marks not being less than 100 each of which one shall be English. A candidate passing in four subjects shall not be eligible to such admission to the course.
Marks obtained in top-four subjects shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing H.S. (10+2) Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under old system, marks obtained in top-four subjects shall be considered to determine the aggregate marks.
Marks obtained in Environmental Education as a compulsory subject at the H.S. (10 + 2) Examination conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent shall not be taken into account for calculation of the aggregate marks in top-four subjects for the purpose of admission.
Candidates who passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent Examination in 2011 and onwards are eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the above-mentioned Courses of Studies provided she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject(s) under heading '(A)' if she has passed the subject(s) under heading '(B)' at the previous qualifying examination

Admission to all Honours courses will be strictly on the basis of eligibility criteria and merit.
Applicants must produce the following documents in original at the time of admission :
Mark sheet
Admit card of the HS or equivalent examination
Document showing the date of birth of the applicant.
Transfer certificate in case the applicant already admitted in another college.
A letter from the guardian mentioning the name and address of a local guardian in case of an outstation applicant.
General Information for the Applicants
A. Eligibility Criteria for Application
For Honours Degree (General & OBC Categories):
50% marks in aggregate with 45% marks in the subject or related subject (TABLE-1)* at the previous qualifying examination
OR
55% marks in the subject or related subject (TABLE-1)* at the previous qualifying examination and pass marks in aggregate
OR
50% marks in aggregate in case the candidate opting Honours in the subject which is not included in her previous qualifying examination.
For Honours Degree (SC/ST Category):
40% marks in aggregate
OR
40% marks in the subject and pass marks in aggregate
OR
40% marks in the subject or related subject (TABLE-1)* at the previous qualifying examination.
For General Degree Courses:
Applicant must qualify in H.S. or equivalent examination.

TWO RECENT STAMP-SIZE COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS
All applicants for the General courses (Humanities, Pure-Sc. and Bio-Sc.), appearing in the Merit Lisr may take their admission to the respective courses directly on the date mentioned [visit www.vcfw.org/brochure.mht] on the First-Come-First-Served basis. During admission, the above documents are required to produce at College Office.
F. Keep In Mind :
As per the recent verdict of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, ragging and sexual harassment in any form are criminal offences. Students involved in either of these unlawful events will be liable to disciplinary action taken by the competent authorities. Also, students have to abide by the discipline in the College and the rules framed by the Calcutta University. Candidates with short fall of attendance in their classes will be taken disciplinary action as per C.U. guidelines.
Other Relevant Information
Comprehensive Computer courses conducted by the College are compulsory for Geography, Physics, Mathematics and Economics Honours students.
Communicative English is compulsory for English Honours students.
Concessions, Scholarships : Concessions in college tuition fees are granted to meritorious and economically backward students for which applications are invited during the session. Production of BPL card is mandatory for availing concession (Part).
Concessions are available for regular students only.
Concessions are awarded subject to regular attendance, good conduct and satisfactory results in the class/college examinations.
All prescribed concessions and scholarships are available to students belonging to reserved and physically challenged categories as per rule.

The college reserves the right to admission. Submission of the application form along with requisite fees does not guarantee admission of the applicant.
The applicants must note that all admissions are provisional and subject to C.U approval.
Any false information furnished in the application form is a punishable offence and renders the cancellation of the candidature though she gets admitted.
After getting admission if a candidate wishes to discontinue her studies or wants to strike out her name from this college, no money will be refunded.
Ragging in all forms are liable to appropriate disciplinary action.
Eligibility to appear in C.U. Examinations are subject to attendance in college as per C.U. norms as follows
Acandidate attending less than 75% but not below 60% of attendance in one or more subjects/groups of subjects shall be declared as NON-COLLEGIATE and may be allowed to appear at the concerned examination on payment of requisite Non-Collegiate fees.
A candidate attending less than 60% lectures delivered and practical classes held in one or more subject(s)/group(s) of subjects shall be declared as DISCOLLEGIATE and shall be debarred from appearing at the C.U. Examination.
Attendance in a subject/group of subjects shall be counted from the date of commencement of classes or admission to the course whichever is later.
