Research Eligibility Test (RET) 2017
For admission to Ph.D. Programme in Textile Technology

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programme in Textile Technology (TT). Candidates willing to pursue research work leading to the Ph.D. (Tech.) degree in Textile Technology, University of Calcutta,should apply in the prescribed format attached herewith and submit to the HOD, Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, University of Calcutta,35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata - 700 019 by 10th October, 2017. The candidate has to pay Rs. 100/- (in cash only) through a challan available from the University Cash Counter at the College Street Campus (main campus), CU or Hazra Road Campus, CU and the challan has to be forwarded by the HOD, Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, University of Calcutta, 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata-700019 before payment of the fee. A photocopy of the challan of fee for Research Eligibility Test (RET) to bedeposited by the candidate must be attached with the application form.

In case of Foreign Candidates with eligible qualifications, the applicant can send his/her application in advance, before due date, to the HOD, Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, Institute of Jute Technology, University of Calcutta, 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata - 700 019,and Rs. 100/- must be deposited on/before the date of interview.

Eligibility

Interested candidates having degree in Bachelor of Technology (subject to provision of 6.4 of Ph.D. regulation) or Engineering (any stream) or Master of Science (Textiles and Clothing) without NET/GATE/M.Phil. are requested to appear for a written examination of RET. Candidates having degree in Master of Science (Textiles and Clothing) with NET/GATE/M.Phil. or candidates having degree in Master of Engineering or Technology need not sit for the written test of RET and they may directly appear for the interview of the RET. Percentage of marks obtained at the Master's level should be at least 55. Successful candidates (in written test and/or interview of RET) will be eligible to get enrolled for their Ph.D. in Textile Technology under the Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, University of Calcutta, 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata - 700 019.

Note:

• No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates appearing at written test or subsequent interview of RET.
• Research interest and area of work of individual faculties may be seen from the departmental website (www.caluniv.ac.in).
• The reservation of SC/ST/OBC etc. will be applicable as per the rules of West Bengal Higher EducationalInstitutions (reservation in admission) rules, 2013, as followed by University of Calcutta.
