Admission to Ph.D. Program 2017
Department of Chemical Engineering

Applications are invited for the admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Calcutta for the year 2017.

Eligibility	Post B.Sc.-B.Tech. / B.Tech. / B.E. Degree or Masters Degree in Science
Number of vacancies	10 (Ten)
Reservation	Reservation in admission shall strictly abide by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013.

It may be noted that the selected candidates, after successful completion of the Programme will be awarded "Ph.D. (Tech.)" Degree in Chemical Engineering

Requirement of Ph.D. Entrance Test :
Candidates having Post B.Sc.-B.Tech./B.Tech./B.E. Degree (as per provision 6.4 of Ph.D. Regulations of CU, 2016) or Masters Degree in Science (as per provision 5.1 of the aforesaid Regulations) are to appear for the Ph.D. Entrance Test for the Ph.D. programme 2017. Candidates appearing in the Final Semester/Year are also eligible.

Qualifying Marks for the Ph.D. Entrance Test will be 50% (as per provision 5.4 of the aforesaid Regulations)

Exemption from Ph.D. Entrance Test (as per provision 5.1 of the aforesaid Regulations) :
The students who have cleared UGC/CSIR (JRF) Examinations / NET / SET / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship or have obtained DST INSPIRE Fellowship / Teacher Fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil. / M.Tech. / M.D. / M.E. / M.Pharm. or equivalent examination shall not be required to appear at the Ph.D. entrance test and they are eligible for directly appearing at the interview.

Type of RET	50 marks (1.5 h duration) as per Ph.D regulation 2016 of the University of Calcutta

Filled in application form along with application fee of Rupees 100/- paid through a challan [before depositing the amount, the challan should be duly forwarded by any faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Calcutta] (in the cash counter of the UCSTA, 92, A. P. C. Road, Kolkata - 700 009 from 12:00 to 14:00 hours), or through a Demand Draft of Rs. 100/- in favor of "University of Calcutta" payable at Kolkata in any Nationalized bank at Kolkata, shall be submitted to the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, UCSTA, University of Calcutta, 92, A. P. C. Road, Kolkata - 700 009.

Last date for submission of dully filled in application form (with copies of all relevant documents) is 3/08/2017.

Publication of final result for the admission to the Ph.D. programme 2017 will be notified through Email and will be displayed in the notice board of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Calcutta, after obtaining the necessary approval from the appropriate authority of the University of Calcutta. Candidates should join within one month after publication of final result.
