Date of admission for eligible candidates to Ph.D. program NOTIFIED AFTER THE RESULT IS PUBLISHED.
ALL DATES ARE TENTATIVE.

• • The Ph.D. Entrance test RET (Research Eligibility Test) will be held on the 7th September 2017 from 11:30 A.M. and the Viva-voce Exam will be held on 11th, 12th & 13th of October 2017 from 11:30 A.M. every day.
  • Application forms will be accepted from 21st August 2017 to 31st August 2017 from 11:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. in the office of the department of Bengali Language & Literature.
  • List of eligible candidates for the RET will be published on the departmental notice board on the 5th September 2017 at 4:00 P.M.
  • List of RET qualified eligible candidates for Viva-voce exam will be walled up on 21st September 2017 at 4:00 P.M. on the departmental notice board.
  • The entrance test will be of 50 marks written and 50 marks for Viva-voce. The candidate has to write one essay of 20 marks, 20 MCQs of 1mark each with negative marking for wrong answer & 2 analytical questions of 5 marks each. Candidates appearing for written test will have to attain qualifying marks (50%) to appear for the viva-voce exam.
  • List of selected candidates for the Ph.D. program will be published on the 17th October 2017 at 4:00 P.M. on the Departmental Notice Board.
  • Eligibility : Candidate with M.A. degree in Bengali from any UGC recognized University with 55% marks in aggregate (SC/ST/OBC with 50% marks) are eligible to apply for admission in the Ph.D. Program. The students who have cleared UGC/CBSE conducted NET/CSC conducted SET or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil. or equivalent examination shall not be required to appear at the Ph.D. Entrance (written) test as per Ph.D. new regulations 2016. They will have to appear only for the viva-voce.
• The number of seats that will be available in the department for Ph.D. program is Nine (09) including reserved categories for this year. The policy of reservation will apply in accordance with the power conferred by subsection (1) of section 8 of the W.B. State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act 2013 (West Bengal Act X of 2013).
• Last date for Admission of eligible candidates to the Ph.D. program will be NOTIFIED AFTER THE RESULT IS PUBLISHED.

Ph.D. course work for the admitted candidates as per new Ph.D. regulations 2016 shall begin in November 2017.
