Applications are invited for Admission to Ph.D. Programme in Russian from candidates who have a Master’s degree in Russian with at least 55% in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale or any other qualification considered equivalent thereto. A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled candidates. The eligible candidates will have to appear in Research Eligibility Test as per the following schedule:

Written Examination : 23.05.2017 (Tuesday)
Time : 2:30 P.M. - 4:30 P.M.
Venue : Department of Languages, Asutosh Bldg, 2nd floor


The names of successful candidates (eligible for viva-voce) will be displayed on the Dept. Notice Board on 26th May, 2017. No candidate will be intimated individually. The viva-voce will be held on 29th May, 2017 (4:00 P.M. onwards) at the Dept. of Languages. Candidates who have passed M.Phil / NET in Russian or equivalent examination are exempted from the written examination and will need to appear at the viva-voce only. Application forms are to be downloaded from the C.U. website and filled in forms are to be submitted at the office of the Dept. of Languages after payment of Rs. 100/-(Rupees one hundred) only at the C.U. cash counter. Last date of submission of forms is 19th May, 2017.

• The written examination (70 marks) will comprise

  Group A		Group B
  i) Russian & Soviet Literature ii) Creative writing iii) Translation from Russian to English & Vice-versa.	OR	i) Modern Russian Language(Theory & Practical) ii) Creative writing iii)Translation from Russian to English & vice-versa

  Viva-voce (30 marks) on the basis of contents of written papers.
• Number of intake is 10 (Ten)
• Reservation policy will be followed as per West Bengal Higher Educational Institution (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013.
