Steel City College of Education is a promising institution that has been established in the year 3rd Oct 2011. It is situated in the vicinity of the steel City Durgapur. As the B.Ed colleges are dearth in our state, the purpose of this college is to provide quality education to the B.Ed aspirants and to turn them into successful teacher. Various training programs conducted such as Discussion on academic thoughts, and activities. They are to judge everything from academic point of view and eschew everything un-academic.
The primary focus of the institution’s activities is geared towards education and especially interdisciplinary education. The college encourages its faculty members to take up basic and applied research in different subject areas, especially in education. The research interests of its faculty ranges from cancer research to cognitive development in pre-school children including research in Physics, Mathematics Urbanization, Creative Education in Geography, Indian Writing in English, Computational Chemistry, Bengali Dialects, and Pedagogical Analysis. The institution aims to present itself as a demonstrator rather than a preacher. The college aims to demonstrate – Learning how to learn. It aspires to be a centre of teacher–education, research and development, and to extend its services to the community.
