Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the 3-year B.A./B .Sc. (Honours) and B.Sc. General Courses of Studies provided she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.

No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Study after passing the previous qualifying examination.
Explanation : The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying Examination. -
A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject (s) under heading A if she had passed the subject(s) under heading B at the previous qualifying examination.

Some Special condition for admission to Honours Courses as Follows:
Economics : A candidate shall be allowed to up Honours in Economics if she has passed in Mathematics at the H.S. Examination (10+2) conducted by the West Bengal Council of H.S. Education or its equivalent examination in Mathematics/ Business Mathematics. Students who have passed Business Economics including Business Mathematics in H.S. (10+2) level from West Bengal Council of H.S. Education are also eligible for admission in the Honours Course in Economics.
Mathematics : A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Mathematics if she has passed in Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination. A candidate who has passed in Business Mathematics is not eligible for admission to the Mathematics Honours Course.
Physiology : A candidate shall be allowed to take-up Honours in Physiology if she passed the subject Physiology/ Biology/Bio-Technology and Chemistry in the previous qualifying examination. - Aggregate means total marks of the best four subjects (at least 100 marks paper). However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education /Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject "Environmental Science" is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, may be taken into account for the purpose determining the aggregate marks.
- Admission will be conducted on the basis of provisional merit list. Provisional Merit list will be generated on the basis of Index Mark (formula given on the list below).
- For admission a SC/ST candidates must secure not less than 25% and an OBC candidate must secure not less than 10% of index mark of the last admitted candidate in General Category in Honours and General Courses.
