Admission 2016

  • The academic session of the College extends from 1st July to 30th June every year. All classes are open to both men and women students except the B.Ed. course in Department of Teacher Education which is restricted to women students. Application for admission must be made on the on-line application form available in the website: www.scottishadmissions.com. The originals must be produced at the time of admission and college fees must be paid immediately after verification of the documents. Admission will be given strictly in accordance with the norms prescribed by the Admission Committee.

  • A candidate may be admitted to the first Year B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Honours/General/Major) courses of studies on passing (10+2) Examination in General or Vocational Stream conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent examination conducted by other State Board/Council, Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya or National Open School recognised by the Distant Learning Council subject to the fulfillment of the conditions mentioned below:

    In case of other Boards/Councils, a candidate shall have to pass in four recognised subjects of full marks not being less than 100 each of which one shall be English.

    Marks obtained in top four subjects shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing the (10+2) Examination from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under old system, marks obtained in top four subjects shall be considered to determine their aggregate marks.

    Marks obtained at the (10+2) Examination conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent in Environmental Education as a compulsory subject shall not be taken into account for calculating the aggregate marks in top four subjects for the purpose of admission to the degree course of studies in this University.
  • A candidate taking up Honours Course in a subject must have obtained:
    • A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

      OR
    • 55% in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination

      OR
    • 50% marks in aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his/her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied. However, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe community taking up Honours Course of Study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examinations, as the case may be.

Criteria for Admission to B.A./ B.Sc. Honours Courses
Please note the following :
  • No distinction between West Bengal Board and Other Boards
  • Aggregate means Total Marks of the Best FOUR Subjects (at least 100 marks paper) excluding ENVS in the qualifying exam
  • Best Four Subjects include the Honours subject applied for wherever applicable
  • Number in brackets () indicates the total number of seats available in the subject
  • Admission through Merit List based on Index Mark : For Physics (Hons.) through Admission Test for General Merit Category. Direct Admission for Sanskrit & Philosophy
  • Merit list is prepared based on Index Mark for all categories of students, unless otherwise specified.
  • Must have passed in English (with atleast 100 Marks paper)
  • Must have passed in the General (Elective) subjects applied for
  • Preference for admission to all courses is given to those applicants who are qualified in the current academic year.

For SC/ST applicants, the following minimum as required by the Calcutta University applies. Minimum 40% marks in aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subject at the qualifying examination.

For PH/Christian applicants, minimum criteria to apply are as follows:
(Among Christian applicants, preference is given to those from Communion of Churches in India (CNI/CSI/Mar Thoma)

  • A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject in the qualifying examination. - OR -
  • 55% marks in the subject or related subject in the qualifying examination - OR -
  • 50% marks in aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his/her qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.


Fees to be deposited at the time of Admission

Fee to be paid at the time of admission

The fees shown below (subject to minor changes) includes Admission Fee, Annual Fee, Lab Charges, Lab Development Fee, Library Caution Money, Security Deposit and Tuition Fee. These are collected in two installments. The installment-1 at the time of Admission and installment-2 subsequently with due notification.

The date of payment of various fees may be obtained from the college office for late payment the college office will realized a fines are rule. The names of the defaulters will be struck off and such student will have to seek re-admission as per college rules.
