Hindu School, Kolkata is housed in an elegant 19th century building at College Street, the hub of intellectual activities of the city, in the humbling company of Presidency College, Calcutta University and Calcutta Medical College. Managed by the Government of West Bengal, Hindu School follows the syllabus ordained by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, the medium of instruction being Bengali. It is a boys only school and has classes I - XII.

The school contains two academic sections – Primary and Secondary. The Primary Section (Morning Section) for students from class I-V and the Secondary Section (Day Section) is for students from class VI-XII.

For admission to the Class I , an open lottery system (this is usually determined by the West Bengal Government's current dictum at that time) is use.

In Sixth & Three standards there is an open written test conducted by the school. In both the cases, application forms are obtained from the school office.
- For admission in the Higher Secondary Courses forms are issued just after the publication of Madhyamik results of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
