- Merit / Index Calculation Method 2024

For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Major Course, AGGREGATE MARKS SHALL BE CALCULATED BY ADDING THE MARKS IN TOP-FOUR SUBJECTS in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education/ Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject “Environmental Science” is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.

FOR Three-year B. Com. and Three-year Multidisciplinary B.A./B.Sc Courses: MERIT INDEX = AGGREGATE

Other Conditions:

• Applicants should have passed in FOUR subjects of 100 marks each and passed the H. S./ Equivalent examination as a whole.
• Applicants must have passed in English (at least 100 marks)
• Applicants of Major subjects having same merit index will be ranked as per their marks in subject / related subject. If deadlock still persists, candidate who applied first will be entertained.
• Candidates must have passed from a Board / Council recognized by the University of Calcutta.
