Generic Elective (GE) subject combinations for Honours Programme
Note : Before choosing your Generic Elective (GE) subject / course, students are requested to carefully read the following conditions:
There are six Honours Programmes in
Science Group (Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics) and six in
Arts / Humanities Group (English, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Bengali)
- A student who wishes to study Honours programme from the Arts / Humanities group as mentioned above will have to take any two other GE subjects, at least one of which must be from Arts / Humanities Group.
- A student who wishes to study Honours programme from the Science Group as mentioned above will have to take any two other GE subjects, at least one of which must be from Science Group.
- The TABLE A below gives the two pools from which a student will choose one generic elective from each pool. No student should take the same subject from both the pools. Students are also not allowed to take two subjects from one pool.
- Interested students with a basic acquaintance with music may opt for “Music” as the GE subject from the Pool mentioned below. For those candidates, a provisional viva will be taken after the admission.
- The following four combinations given below cannot be taken together either as Honours / General (Generic) combinations or as two General (Generic) combinations :-
a) History, Mathematics
b) Chemistry, Sanskrit
c) Political Science, Electronics
d) Computer Science, Bengali
- Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) vocational Examinations conducted by West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training cannot apply.
