The Andhra Pradesh government has commenced the process of hiring 16,347 government teachers by issuing a government order (GO), with plans to finalize the recruitment by the end of 2024.
Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad directed the commissioner of school education to supervise the Mega DSC (District Selection Committee) - 2024 and ensure the appointment of teachers by December 31, 2024.
"The government has announced its decision to fill 16,347 teacher positions in School Education and other related departments through Mega DSC - 2024," said Prasad, as quoted by news agency PTI.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, upon assuming office, immediately fulfilled a campaign promise by endorsing the recruitment of 16,347 government teachers as his first official action. Alongside this significant initiative, Naidu also approved several other projects aligned with his electoral commitments, including enhancements to welfare pensions and other key initiatives.
During a press conference at the secretariat, Minister N Ramanaidu announced that welfare pensions for eligible beneficiaries have been increased to Rs 4,000 per month. Furthermore, he stated that each beneficiary would receive Rs 7,000 as welfare pension on July 1, inclusive of Rs 1,000 for each month from April to June, in addition to the increased Rs 4,000 pension amount.
Ramanaidu highlighted the government's commitment to continue with the volunteer system, subject to periodic review and improvement. He also mentioned the government's intention to release department-wise white papers to offer detailed information and ensure transparency about its operations.
