FIRST SEMESTER (CBCS) M.SC. IN ZOOLOGY/ FIRST SEMESTER M.A. IN ENGLISH / M.A. IN URDU ADMISSION FOR THE SESSION 2016-2018.
(AFFILIATED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CALCUTTA)
ADMISSION IS DONE STRICTLY ON THE BASIS OF MERIT.

Applications for Provisional Admission to the First Semester M.Sc. in Zoology/ First Semester M.A. in English and Urdu 2016 will be received online only.

From 11.07.2016 to 26.07.2016 - Candidature of a candidate will be outright be cancelled (at any stage) if the data given in online application do not match with original testimonials.
- The students passing B. Sc. Honours in Zoology (10+2+3) / B.A. Honours in English /Urdu (10+2+3) in the year 2015 only can apply for admission to the respective Post Graduate Courses provided other ‘Eligibility Criteria for Application’ are fulfilled.
- The candidates are requested to get the Print out of the filled in Application Form along with Admit Card and Money Receipts, after online submission of the application. Three recent coloured Stamp-size Photos (Self Attested) are to be affixed at the specified space in the Printout of filled in Application Form and Admit Card which may be required at the time of Admission Test & Counselling Processes.
- Admission will be made strictly on basis of Merit and Attendance of the Candidate on the date and time of the Counselling of the respective subject is mandatory.

- All CASH should be deposited at Bank by either of the following two methods:
- By mode of challan generated on the website after the submission of online application form.
- Directly by mode of online payment through Billdesk Gateway in the college website.
- Interference of any third party is not allowed..
- Application Fees : Rs. 220.00 for the subject applied for.
- Last date of submission of application fee to Indian Bank is on 28.07.2016 (4.00 p.m.)
- Receiving of application fees at any branch of Indian Bank (After online submission of application and on producing the obtained print out of Money Receipt) : From 11.07.2016 to 28.07.2016 (Mon-Friday: 10.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. & Saturday: 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.)(Except Sunday and Holiday)
THREE COPIES OF THE MONEY RECEIPT WILL BE GENERATED DURING ONLINE SUBMISSION. THE APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ONLY AFTER THE CANDIDATE SUBMITS ONE COPY OF THE MONEY RECEIPT (ENDORSED BY THE BANK) TO THE COLLEGE. - In case of eligibility of candidates, seeking admission on migration, regarding equivalence of which there is no explicit decision of the University of Calcutta, or with a subject in accordance with the provision of the University of Calcutta Regulation, specific permission must be obtained from The Secretary, U.G. Council, University of Calcutta before their admission. Such students will not be admitted unless they are formally permitted by the University of Calcutta to pursue their studies in this college.
Eligibility Criteria (M.Sc. in Zoology, 2016)
- Students who had passed Three years Honours Examination in 2016 from Calcutta University with minimum 55% marks in Honours subject will be eligible for applying in General category.
- Students passed from Universities other than the University of Calcutta in the year 2016 securing minimum 60% marks in the Honours subject will be eligible to apply in General category.
- Criteria for Physically challenged candidates is same as General category.
- For SC/ ST/ OBC-A/OBC-B candidates passing from the University of Calcutta or from Other Universities of West Bengal with a minimum of 45% marks in Honours Subject will be eligible for applying.
- For admission to this courses an SC/ST/PC candidates getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of marks obtained by the last candidate of the General category.
- For admission to this courses an OBC A/OBC B candidates getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 10% of marks obtained by the last candidate of the General category.
- 60% of the approved seats will be filled up directly on the basis of merit from Calcutta University students in General, PC, SC, ST , OBC-A (one seat) and OBC-B (one seat) categories.
- Rest 40% seats will be filled up from the candidates selected through Admission test in General, SC and ST categories.
- The Admission Test (MCQ type) will be of one hour duration having full marks 100 containing 50 questions, each having 2 marks (for 4 incorrect attempts and / or multiple attempts 1 mark will be deducted). Candidates who have applied for 60% category but have not been selected in the merit list will have to sit for the Admission test.
- In case of tie, University Honours marks followed by General/Pass Paper marks will be considered.
- Total approved seat for M. Sc. in Zoology is 28 (17 general + 6 SC+ 2 ST + 1 PC+ 1 OBC-A + 1 OBC-B). If there is no PC applicant for 60% category the seat will be filled up from General candidates from 60% category.
- 60% of 17 General category seats i.e., 10 seats and 1 seat from PC candidates are for direct admission from the General category merit list of CU students.
- 40% of 17 General category seats i.e., 7 seats (no quota for PC) will be filled up on the basis of the marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- Similarly 60% of 6 SC category seats i.e., 4 seats are for direct admission from the merit list of CU students for SC category and remaining (40% of 6 seats) i.e., 2 seats will be filled up on the basis of the marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- For ST Categories 1 seat will be filled up directly from the merit list (60% category) and remaining 1 seat will be filled up on the basis of the marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- Candidates from CU who have applied for 60% category but whose name has not been enlisted in the merit list will have to sit for the Admission Test.
- If a student cancels his/her admission, the vacancy will be filled up from the waiting list of respective categories.
Eligibility Criteria (M.A. in English, 2016)
- Students who had passed Honours Examination in 2016 from Calcutta University with minimum 50% marks in Honours subject will be eligible to apply in General category.
- Students passed from Universities other than the Calcutta University in the year 2016 securing minimum 50% marks in the Honours subject and passed Examination in 2015 will be eligible to apply in General category.
- Criteria for Physically challenged candidates is same as General category.
- For SC/ ST /OBC A/OBC B candidates who have passed from the University of Calcutta or from Other Universities with a minimum of 45% marks in Honours Subject will be eligible to apply.
- For admission to this courses an SC/ST/PC candidates getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of marks obtained by the last candidate of the General category.
- For admission to this courses an OBC A / OBC B candidates getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 10% of marks obtained by the last candidate of the General category.
- 60% of the approved seats will be filled up directly on the basis of merit from Calcutta University students in General, PC, SC and ST, OBC-A (one seat) and OBC-B (one seat) categories.
- Rest 40% seats will be filled up from General, SC, ST and OBC A categories selected through Admission test.
- The Admission Test will be of one hour duration having full marks 100 containing 30 MCQ questions, each having 2 marks (for 4 incorrect attempts and/or multiple attempts 1 mark will be deducted) and a short essay (in 400 words) of 40 marks. Candidates who have applied for 60% category but have not been selected in the merit list will have to sit for the Admission test.
- In case of a tie, University Honours marks followed by marks obtained in Pass/General papers will be considered.
- Total approved seat for M. A. in English is 24 (14 General + 5 SC+ 1 ST + 1 PC + 2 OBC A + 1 OBC B). If there is no PC applicant for 60% category the seat will be filled up from General category candidates from 60% category.
- 60% of 14 General category seats (i.e., 08 seats) and 1 seat from PC candidates are for direct admission from the General category merit list of CU students.
- 40% of 14 General category seats (i.e., 06 seats) will be filled up on the basis of the marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- Similarly 60% of 5 SC category seats (i.e., 03 seats) are for direct admission from the merit list of CU students for SC category and remaining 2 seats (40% category) will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- For ST Category, 1 seat will be filled up directly from the merit list of CU students. If there is no applicant in 60% category the seat will be filled up from the merit list of 40% category.
- 1 seat each of OBC A and OBC B categories are for direct admission in the 60% category and 1 seat of OBC A will be filled up from 40% Category selected through Admission Test. The candidates selected in the merit list of 60% category need not to appear in the Admission Test.
- If a student cancels his/her admission, the vacancy will be filled up from the waiting list of the respective categories.

- Students who had passed Honours Examination in 2016 from the University of Calcutta or from other Universities with minimum 45% marks in Honours subject are eligible to apply for General, Physically Challenged (PC), SC, ST, OBC A and OBC B categories.
- For admission to this courses an SC/ST/PC candidates getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of marks obtained by the last candidate of the General category.
- For admission to this courses an OBC A/OBC B candidates getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 10 % of marks obtained by the last candidate of the General category.
- 60% of the approved seats will be filled up directly on the basis of merit from Calcutta University students in General, PC, SC, ST, OBC-A (one seat) and OBC-B (one seat) categories.
- 40% of approved seats will be filled up from the candidates selected through Admission Test in General, SC, ST, OBC A (one seat ) and OBC B (one) categories.
- The Admission Test will be of one hour duration having full marks 100 containing 50 MCQ questions, each having 2 mark ( for 4 incorrect attempts and/or multiple attempts 1 mark will be deducted ). Candidates who have applied for 60% category but have not been selected in the merit list will have to sit for the Admission test.
- In case of a tie, University Honours marks followed by marks obtained in Pass/General papers will be considered.
- Total approved seat for M. A. in Urdu is 36(20 general + 8 SC+ 2 ST + 1 PC + 3 OBC A + 2 OBC B). If there is no PC applicant for 60% category the seat will be filled up from General candidates from 60% category.
- 60% of 20 General category seats (i.e., 12 seats) and 1 seat from Physically Challenged candidates are for direct admission from the General category merit list of CU students.
- 40% of 20 General category seats (i.e. 8 seats ) will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- 5 SC category seats (60% category) are for direct admission from the merit list of CU students for SC category and remaining 3 seats ( 40% Category) will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- For ST Categories 1 seat will be filled up directly from the merit list and remaining 1 seat will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test.
- 1 seat each of OBC A and OBC B categories are for direct admission in the 60% category and 1 seat each of OBC A and OBC B will be filled up from 40% Category selected through Admission test.
- Candidates from CU who have applied for 60% category but have not been selected in the merit list will have to sit for the Admission test. The candidates selected in the CU merit list in the 60% category need not appear in the Admission Test.
- If a student cancels his/her admission, the vacancy will be filled up from the waiting list of respective category.
The Post Graduate Department of Urdu reserves the right to alter eligibility criteria for Admission to M.A. in Urdu as per its requirements.

PHOTO IDENTITY PROOF IS MANDATATORY FOR APPEARING IN THE EXAMINATION. CANDIDATES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER THE EXAMINATION HALL WITHOUT VALID ID (VOTER CARD / PAN CARD / AADHAR CARD / PASSPORT) PROOF.

Selected Candidates are required to present Himself / Herself before Admission Desk with:
- Original & unattested photocopies of Mark sheet (10+2+3) Examination, 2015.
- Original & Attested photocopies of Age proof certificate.
- Original College leaving certificate.
- Three coloured stamp-size (2 X 2.5 cm) coloured photographs.
- Original and Two attested photocopies of Caste / PC Certificate.
- SC, ST, OBC-A and OBC-B certificates issued from States other than West Bengal will not be entertained as reserve candidates.
- Original and one unattested photocopy of University Registration Certificate.
- One photocopy each of all relevant documents ( Not to be attested).
- Bank-endorsed original Money receipt and print out of downloaded Application form.
- Admit Card of Admission Test (wherever applicable).
