Provisional Admission to 1st year Post Graduate Classes in Botany
at Jogamaya Devi College

• Applications are invited for admission to M.Sc. in Botany, Session 2016-17, from the Female Candidates who have obtained their Bachelor degree with Honours in Botany from University of Calcutta as well as any UGC recognized Indian University.
• Candidates who have obtained their Bachelor degree in 2016 and 2015 are eligible to apply for the said course.
• Post-Graduate Admission related information will be available only online through the website:

• Application Form will be available from 27.06.2016 to 10.07.2016
• Application Fee (Rs.500/-, excluding bank charges) to be paid at the branches of Indian Bank (any Branch) from 28.06.2016 to 11.07.2016 (within Banking hours).
• Reservation of seats ear-marked for CU and Other Universities as per existing rules of Government of west Bengal. [Reservation of seats for SC (22%), ST (6%), OBC (A-10% & B-7%) and PC candidates are as per rules of Govt. of West Bengal.]
• 60% of the seats are ear-marked for CU students only on merit basis and the rest 40% of the total seats are ear-marked for candidates of both CU and other Universities to be admitted through written test.
• Merit will be judged on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in Botany (Hons.) Examination.
• Merit list for 60 % of the seats allocated to candidates of CU for current year (2016) and previous year (2015) to be announced by 14.07.2016
• Date of Screening for eligible O.U. candidates for appearing in the written test : 18.07.2016

  To carry for Screening Test	:	Original mark sheets of B.Sc. Part-I, II and III Examinations Bank challan (College copy) SC / ST/ OBC / PH certificates Black or Blue ball point pen

• Merit list for 40% of the seats based on written test to be announced by 23.07.2016
• Date of commencement of Classes will be informed duly.
• Incomplete application form is liable to cancellation.

Eligibility criteria for Admission to 1st year M.Sc. classes in Botany for 2016 – 2017

For General Candidates:	For Candidates who have obtained B. Sc. (Hons.) degree in Botany from Calcutta University	50% marks in Honours subject
	For Candidates who have obtained B. Sc. (Hons.) degree in Botany from Other Universities	55% marks in Honours subject
*For Reserved Categories:	For Candidates who have obtained B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Botany from Calcutta University / Other Universities	40% marks in Honours subject

*For SC/ ST / OBC (A & B) candidates domiciled in the State of West Bengal are eligible for reserved seats.

Application from Physically Challenged candidates (if any) will be considered as admissible as per Govt. rules.

• Of the total seats, 60% seats will be filled up by the candidates who have passed from the colleges affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Such 60% of total seats be termed as “For C.U. Candidates”. All the current year (2016) and preceding year (2015) students passed out as Honours Graduate from C.U. affiliated Colleges will be considered in this category.
• Merit list for this 60% of seats for CU students to be prepared on the basis of percentage of Honours marks at Graduate level.
• Rest 40% of total seats are kept open for both CU Candidates and Non- CU.

For candidates of other Universities :

• In this category, the candidates who have obtained their Bachelor degree in Botany with Honours from the University other than Calcutta University will be considered.

• The candidate should be present personally, failure of which will cancel her candidature.
• Guardians will not be allowed to enter the college premises on the day of admission.
• Selected candidates will have to pay the admission fees (Rs. 40,000/-) on the same day for First academic session (Part-I).
• Candidates are to deposit Rs. 5,000/- as caution money at the time of admission which will be refunded on successful completion of the course after deduction, if any.
• Excursion Fee of Rs. 5,000/- to be paid as deposit by the selected candidates at the time of admission, which will be adjusted during excursion.
• Admission Fees once paid will not be refunded.
• There is no hostel facility in the college.

Fees to be Paid at the time of Admission 2016 – 2017

Admission Fee	:	Rs. 40,000/- per academic session
Caution money	:	Rs. 5,000/-  one time refundable deposit for both Part-I and Part-II
Excursion deposit	:	Rs. 5,000/-  one time for Part-I only

Admission from the Subsequent Merit List(s) will be announced later, if any vacancy arises.
