The results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will be declared on March 19. After the declaration of the results, candidates can download their GATE 2016 score card from the official website, the link for which is http://www.gate.iisc.ernet.in/ and click on the link, 'GATE 2016 Results'. Thereafter, the candidates should enter the necessary details. On submitting the same, the results will display on their screen. The candidates are advised to take a print-out for future reference.
The GATE examination consisted of a single paper, which had 65 questions carrying 65 marks in total. The exam was held for a duration of three hours. The question paper comprised both multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type questions. (Check: GATE 2016: List of papers)
The competitive exam is conducted every year as a gateway to postgraduate courses at the Master and Doctoral levels across the country, and also to MHRD and other government scholarships, assistantships in engineering, technology, architecture and science. The score obtained by candidates in GATE is also used by a few PSUs during their recruitment.
The score cards will be issued to:
- All SC/ST/PwD candidates whose marks are greater than or equal to the qualifying marks of SC/ST/PwD candidates in their papers.
- All other candidates whose marks are greater than or equal to the qualifying mark of OBC (NCL) candidates in their respective papers.
